About the JMEC Program
JMEC brings together highly motivated mid-career professionals willing to challenge themselves, with companies in need of a business plan for their activities in the Japanese market. The individuals take part in a 2-part business training program. The first phase focuses on classroom instruction, while the second part involves hands-on experience writing a business plan for a company’s endeavors in the Japanese market. The client companies receive a quality business plan, whether it be for Japan market entry or expansion, and so it is a great option for any organization doing business in Japan or thinking of starting a business in Japan.
JMEC was initiated by the Australian & New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan in 1993 and is based on the New South Wales Enterprise Workshop. Currently, the program is supported by seventeen foreign chambers of commerce in Japan, representing the countries of America, Australia & New Zealand, Austria, Belgium & Luxembourg, Brazil, Britain, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland (represented by Enterprise Ireland), Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. The program also receives corporate sponsorship from members of the business community in Japan.
As of June 2014, the conclusion of the program's 20th year, 1018 JMEC graduates have collectively written 190 business plans for organizations of all types both within and outside of the Japanese market.
Fall of 2014 marks the beginning of the program's twenty-first year in Japan.
